Candidates running for 2021-2022 SPJNE board leadership announced
The following members are asking for your vote in the chapter’s upcoming election, scheduled to take place online October 8th to 10th.
Candidate for president: Adam Sennott (incumbent)
My name is Adam Sennott and I’m intending to run for re-election as President of the New England chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists. I’m running because I would like to continue growing the chapter and building over the success of the past two-years. Since the pandemic started SPJ-NE has held numerous Zoom events with some of the best journalists including Don Lemon, Nikole Hannah-Jones, and Seymour Hersh. We offer a yearly scholarship and are working on other programs that will help journalists throughout New England
Candidate for secretary: Cat McGloin (incumbent)
Catherine is a freelance journalist, recent graduate of the Poynter-Koch Fellowship and former editor-in-chief of the Scope. She covers social justice issues, including criminal justice reform health inequity. In 2019, she graduated from Northeastern University with a master’s degree in journalism, following a decade in journalism, digital marketing and PR. She is also a committee member with The Journalism and Women Symposium.
Candidate for treasurer: Don Seiffert (incumbent)
In the past year as treasurer of SPJNE, I’ve helped enable us to accept donations from several organizations as we aim to help start a student newspaper at a Roxbury high school, including signing up for a PayPal account in SPJs name. I look forward to continuing the success of the past year and to be able to put more of the money we have been able to collect recently to good use helping journalists and our members to network, find new opportunities and feel supported in a difficult industry.
